Redeem Team Golden Dream
Posted On 08/24/2008 09:14:09 by YanksMarching
Okay, so not a soccer specific story but if we want to manufacture a soccer storyline we can talk about Beckham attending the game or Kobe Bryant's adoration of Messi.

Soccer aside, shout out to the U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team for winning Olympic Gold early this morning and a ending their eight year Olympic draught.

For a minute there in the third quarter, the summer of Spain looked like it just might continue. There's no denying that the Spaniards have dominate the... Read More

The United States took a 2:1 lead into stoppage time before Holland's Gerald Sibon's free kick tunnelled the defensive wall from 25 meters to equalize at 90"+3.

Earlier in the match, Ryan Babbel tallied for the Dutch while Sascha Kljestan and second half substitute Jozy Altidore found the back of the net all in the run of play.

The United States, now on four points following this draw and the opening match win over Japan, will close out the... Read More

U.S. Olympic Men Take Japan in Opener
Posted On 08/08/2008 21:33:43 by YanksMarching

Stuart Holden strikes a 47th minute game winner from 18 yards to see the U.S. Men past Japan in their opening match of Beijing 2008. All credit to U.S. fullback Marvelle Wynne for an advance with pace down the right flank past his marker to make the centering pass that led to the Holden marker.

Next up for the U.S. is The Netherlands on Sunday. The match can be seen live on the USA Network and NBC Olympic Soccer Channel at 7:45am.
