Wow. I never saw that one coming. The Dutch extended the Euro2008 curse of the group winner becoming the third of three group winners (Portugal, Croatia) to go out in the quarterfinals after being completely outplayed by a Russian side on a mission. This doesn't bode well for Spain today!

A brilliant finish by Van Nistelroy saw the match to extra time but the Russians deserved the match in 90". In extra time a fearless charge of the net by Torbinski provided the match winner and Arashavin completed the 3-1 win.

Do svidaniya Oranje. Do svidaniya also to Van Basten who is off to take the charge at Ajax next season. It certainly was fun while it lasted.
